چکیده

The aim of the research was to determine field, greenhouse and seed bed performance of plantlets derived from in vitro propagated plantlets of three potato cultivars. Generally, higher values were obtained from the mid-early maturing cultivar Marabel, compare to other cultivars (early cultivar Velox and and mid-early cultivar Concorde) for tuber yield, tuber number and average tuber weight. For these yield components, in the field and seed bed plantlets were found lower values than greenhouse plantlets. The percentage of >4 g tuber weight was obtained for approximately 80 % in greenhouse and field plantlets and between 45 to 55 % in seed bed plantlets. These results indicated that greenhouse and seed bed potato plantlets can be used effectively to expand production of basic minituber seed stocks.

Effect of Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPRs) and Chemical Fertilizer Application on Solanum tuberosum L. Cultivars in Aeroponic Culture System and Field Conditions

Optimization of mineral nutrition in aeroponic systems is one of the most significant factors in producing high-quality and high yields of healthy seed tubers in potato (Solanum tuberosum L.). The present study was conducted at the Research Farm and Greenhouse of Agricultural and Natural Resources Center of Ardabil during two successive years (2018-2019). For the aeroponic system an experiment ...

‘Norland’ Tuber Yields Are Not Affected by Salinity Treatment of Parent Plants

Micropropagation and minituber production technology may enable the establishment of potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) seed tuber certification programs in arid and semiarid regions of the world and reduce dependency on expensive seed tuber imports. Therefore, we investigated possible carry-over effects of moderate salt stress on the following production cycle. The yields of seed tuberand microtube...

Effect of grafting on growth, performance and yield of aubergine (Solanum melongena L.) in greenhouse and open-field

Seedlings of aubergine (Solanum melongena L.) cv. ‘Rima’ were used as scion (R) and control (non-grafted) and rootstock (self-grafted) (RR), while two hybrid tomatoes ‘Heman’ (Lycopersicon hirsutm) and ‘Primavera’ (Lycopersicon esculentum) were used as rootstocks. Grafted and non-grafted plants were grown in the greenhouse and in the open-field. Grafted plants Rima and Heman (RH) were more vigo...

An experiment was conducted at the research field of Tuber Crop Research Centre (TCRC) of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute, Gazipur during the winter of 2006-2007 to determine the effects of cutting methods and seed size on the yield and profitability in potato (Solanum tuberosum L.). It was observed that the foliage coverage, plant height, stems/hill, number and weight of tubers/plan...

Potato tuber expression of Arabidopsis WRINKLED1 increase triacylglycerol and membrane lipids while affecting central carbohydrate metabolism

Tuber and root crops virtually exclusively accumulate storage products in the form of carbohydrates. An exception is yellow nutsedge (Cyperus esculentus) in which tubers have the capacity to store starch and triacylglycerols (TAG) in roughly equal amounts. This suggests that a tuber crop can efficiently handle accumulation of energy dense oil. From a nutritional as well as economic aspect, it w...
